Bad Blisters and Blood...

The first major filming block of Powers has come to an end and with all kinds of shinnanigans along the way it is safe to say it has been a bumpy yet satisfying road. Although we have already had to jump numerous hurdles, recasting, relocating and rearranging dates, we seem to have pull through in the end. Episode one still has quite a few amount of scenes to get "in the can" but thankfully, our hard work has paid off as the majority of the episode is edited and been sent for effects in post.
The final filming date for the first episode is to take place next week, but I'm here to reflect on my time shooting powers for this crazy week in february.
The best bots about this week have been being able to see my creations come to life and take on a role I created almost 2 years ago and have wanted to try for a good while. We got a lot of complicated sequences shot and despite the amount of doubt I had while writing the script it seems that with a little help from Dave Edwards, our SFX man, we will certainly have an interesting and entertaining outcome.
Not just this but the cast of people we have in the "pilot" episode have been outstanding and I think that this is really setting the standard for future episodes.
Episode 2 also began shooting and remained to the high quality and standard I hope that it would be. Powers has been a challenging product in the few months it has existed but this has certainly been worth everything we have done.
Of course things were going to go wrong, they always do. Numerous times plans have been dismantled and reassembled and we have had a few close shaves, having to recast twice already! Another thing is the day myself and Jacob Kay went to Buxton to get some scenes shot in the lovely Pooles Cavern only to find that this wasn't possible and we had to hike up 2 huge hills, through a big forest to find a location that actually fit the place we wanted.
I hadn't expected this and walking this amount in pointy shoes made for business meetings is bound to leave a mark, in the end I had 2 blisters, one on each heel, causing quite the amount of pain, not only this I managed to head butt one of our cast members during preparation for a fight scene which proved to give me a nice throbbing headache and finally, of all the mishaps we managed to cause a bit of a farce getting fake blood on the carpet, creating a terrible mess and atmosphere on set.
Despite these things, we have trudged on and I'm confident that one day all of our battles will be worth it!

Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming web-series: Powers.
